We are always keen to hear from potential new members.

Due to our high volunteer retention rate, new member intakes for the Northshore unit are only held once a year, typically February. If you would like to be considered, then you must lodge your details with us by using the form below.
The information / intake process is very simple, and involves three basic stages, as follows:
Stage 1 – Information Night:
All potential new members must attend an information night before they will be considered for membership. Once a date has been finalised, invitations will be emailed to those on the waiting list.
The information nights offer a brief insight into what SES volunteers really do and what the requirements and commitments will be. You will also get the chance to tour the unit, to meet existing members, and to ask any questions over some light refreshments.
There are ‘no strings attached’ to coming along – if you decide that you would like to apply, then you can take an application form home with you. If you decide that the SES is not for you then that is absolutely fine!
Stage 2 – Preliminary Approval – Interview Night:
If your application is approved for further consideration, then you proceed to the preliminary round, when you will be requested to attend a 15 / 20 minute meeting with the unit management team. The primary purpose of this meeting is to discuss your particular application including your skills, goals, availability etc. Of course, you can also ask any final questions to ensure that you are fully aware of everything that there is to know.
Stage 3 – Final Approval:
First round of offers will then be issued. Depending on the take up of those offers, a second round of offers may then follow.
Remember that current membership levels will specifically dictate the numbers of places available and the number of places offered. No matter how perfect some of you may be to become SES volunteers, we will have a very specific amount of places available, and we will not be able to please everybody.
As expected, the huge variance of employment and family situations with members dictates when they may be available for training and callouts – each member advises their typical availability on the main callout list. However, please note that by applying to join the Northshore SES unit, you are committing to attending regular training (every Wednesday evening from 1930hrs to 2230hrs) with a view to becoming a dependable & reliable member of the unit.
