Northshore team heads to Stirling and Swan as windy night causes some damage
It had been a busy night, with the AGM only finishing a few hours before. However some volunteers from Northshore SES did not quite make it to their beds last night - instead they headed to Stirling and then Swan to help out their colleagues.
Most damage was minor and occurred in Midvale, in a narrow stretch between Ferguson Street and Blackadder Road, a City of Swan spokeswoman said.
Properties were damaged and a child play centre lost part of its roof when powerful winds blasted through Midvale overnight.
The worst hit building was the Midvale Playgroup and Toy Library on Morrison Road, which had part of its roof ripped off by what the Weather Bureau says was a 'localised downblast of wind'.
City of Swan, which owns the building, has closed the centre while tests are done to determine if the roof is made from asbestos.
The spokeswoman said the centre would remain closed until the roof had been repaired.
FESA received 10 calls for help to secure weather damaged last night. A spokeswoman said four calls were from the Midvale area and most were for minor roof damage.
