A Northshore spokesman this morning advised that the unit had received two callouts over the last 24 hours to help out residents in the Perth Metro area.
Nick Elliott, Deputy Local Manager said "The first callout was outside of our area (Gwellup), and came through to Northshore as the local unit was unavailable at the time. Considerable roof damage had been caused to a residence, which included a large section of the roof being torn off. Before our crews arrived, it was confirmed to us that the house was in fact on a building site." Temporary repairs were ultimately carried out by the builder.
"The second callout was this morning, to a house on Bowman Street in Shenton Park. The property had sufffered minor damage to the roof as a result of a strong gust of wind. This roof damage subsequently enabled the rain to enter the property resulting in minimal damage being caused to the first floor carpets"
"Our crews arrived on scene at about 10am and quickly carried out temporary repairs to the tiled roof to ensure that further water ingress would not occur, and to minimise the potential for any further damage."
Nick reassured the local community that the SES were ready and well prepared for similar storm events over the coming months.
For urgent assistance, the telephone number for the SES is 132 500.
